10 ideas to evaluate when considering putting in a small swimming pool

A swimming pool adds value (and beauty) to a home, and the times when this luxury was the prerogative of only large properties, are long gone. In fact, putting in a pool need not be a major undertaking anymore.

In fact, there are a thousand different solutions for putting small pools (even tiny ones!) into medium-sized gardens or courtyards. It is a question of deciding what to prioritize and how much space is available. Check out the ideas below:

It's not easy to excavate a garden to put in a swimming pool, so above-ground versions are now very popular (usually surrounded with wooden decking).

If space is limited, you need to optimize it with a pool in a shape that allows you to extend it as much as possible: so, no circles, but rather long rectangles are the way to go.

However, if there is only space for the pool (and nothing else), one idea is to match one side of it with the edge of the house, properly integrating into the environment.

The passageway from the house to the pool can be quite short: if the pool is located next to the house, you could consider adding a pool cover (perhaps even a motorized one), and use glass walls to make it look like the pool is indoors.

In fact, when a room in a house that overlooks the pool has a side made with French windows, the pool immediately becomes a more intimate element which is integrated into the home.

Here's an idea for a swimming pool that occupies the corner of the garden, with the relaxation area at one end (and which can be reached by walking along the edges).

Above-ground pools have a charm of their own, especially when they are integrated into the landscape using rustic building materials.

To create a greater sense of privacy and coolness, one or two sides of the pool can be decorated with vases/planter full of vegetation - almost like a hedge.

There are thousands of ideas to create raised platforms that surround pools - even round ones.

And if there's no room for a fully circular pool, why not consider a semicircular one?

Would you like to have a swimming pool like one of these in your garden?
