Non-stick pans are a very useful utensils in our kitchens, for obvious reasons. In fact, under certain conditions, other metal pans can release potentially harmful compounds into our food, and require extra effort to ensure sticking does not occur.

Non-stick frying pans are therefore easier to clean, they do not burn or cause food to stick, they allow for the use of smaller quantities of fat and, if kept in good condition, they do not release harmful compounds into food. However, it can happen that a pan loses its non-stick properties for various reasons, such as heating to excessive temperatures, the use of metal utensils or aggressive detergents or abrasive sponges. However, there is a very simple remedy to restore your non-stick pan using salt. Read on to find out more:

To restore  your non-stick pan, follow these steps:

  • Wash the pan with water and a mild dish detergent, using a soft sponge;
  • Dry it off and put it on the stove, heating it up;
  • When the pan is hot, cover the entire surface with kitchen salt;
  • Continue heating the pan until the salt turns golden;
  • Throw the salt in the trash – or down the sink's drain (which will help clean it);
  • Wipe the pan with a damp paper towel. Be careful during this step - you will need to let the pan cool down before doing this;
  • At this point, your pan will be ready for use again.

We remind you that if the pan has deep scratches, it will need to be replaced; this method is only suitable for intact pans that have lost their non-stick properties or pans that are lightly scratched. Using salt, your pan will be able to regain its non-stick power and you can reuse it with confidence.

Don't be skeptical - try it and you will be pleasantly surprised!
