Hydrogen peroxide can clean your shower thoroughly: find out how

When we get into the shower to wash away the dirt and dust of a day - or prepare ourselves before starting a new one - we are always happier when it is clean and shiny. Certainly, no one likes to shower in a dirty or smelly shower stall. And to clean the shower stall, we often end up using a whole series of products: products for washing the shower floor, others for the taps, the glass and so on. It's not wrong to do this, but it involves spending more money. And what about when you don't have one of your favorite detergents to hand?

In this case, there is no need to lose heart - as long as you have the following product: hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is capable of cleaning and disinfecting the shower, including in the various nooks and crannies where mold grows. It is also effective against limescale and helps combat bad smells from the drains... In short, if we always have a bottle or two of hydrogen peroxide at home, we can clean the entire shower effectively.

  • Against mold: hydrogen peroxide is more delicate than bleach, so is less aggressive on various materials (especially the rubber of the gaskets and seals). hydrogen peroxide needs longer exposure times to obtain the same results as bleach. Therefore, if you want to make the mold disappear, you will have to wet (clean) rags with hydrogen peroxide and keep them on the stains to be removed, overnight. The next day, just use a sponge or even an old toothbrush, and scrub the mold away; then rinse off and dry.
  • If you have to use hydrogen peroxide on vertical surfaces, then it best to make a paste by adding baking soda. Put the paste on the areas to be cleaned, leave it on for as long as possible, then scrub off, rinse and dry.
  • Against limescale: on light stains, like those left by water droplets, just soak a sponge in hydrogen peroxide and pass it over the surface to be cleaned. If, on the other hand, there are more stubborn stains, then try using the paste described above.
  • On tiles and the shower floor: you can always treat these areas with a microfiber sponge or cloth, which you should wet with hydrogen peroxide, rubbing normally. However, if you also want to add a perfume, then you can prepare a spray product with half hydrogen peroxide, half distilled water (or tap water, if you don't have any) and a few drops of an essential oil. Teatree is generally recommended, because it is excellent against mold, but you can also use mint, eucalyptus or lavender.
  • The shower head: tie a plastic bag filled hydrogen peroxide around the shower head. Warning! NEVER mix hydrogen peroxide with vinegar, always use only one of these ingredients.

In short, you can always using hydrogen peroxide to clean your shower thoroughly!
