Bread boxes (or bread bins) - those wooden containers with a rounded, slatted door resembling a sort of shutter - are objects than have stood the test of time. And they can still be bought very easily today in many shops, including at IKEA.

And using classic wooden bread boxes like these, you can create many compact and colorful cabinets, to be used in any room of the house (and not just the kitchen). Check out the example below:

As shown by @craftfactory on their TikTok account, there are many projects you can do with bread boxes. The one described by the TikTokker uses the IKEA MAGASIN bread box model, but near-identical ones can be found at many other retailers.

As can be seen in the video posted by @craftfactory, with two bread boxes it is possible to create a bathroom cabinet: it is tall and thin, compact, with two closed shelves and is very colourful.

To carry out this project, you need paint to color the boxes as you wish - in this case, the colors of the rainbow for the lid was chosen and white for the rest of the box. Then you need some legs/feet to put at the bottom of one and a drill and screws to join the two boxes together securely.

Start by painting your bread boxes in the desired colors. When they are ready and dry, mount the feet on the underside of one of the two; then fix one box to the other, vertically. Make sure that everything is stable and firm, and your cabinet is ready.

Check out the process and the final result in detail here.

This is a completely customizable idea, which can also prove useful for decorating other rooms in the house: it doesn't even mean that you always have to join two bread bins together, nor that you have to do it only vertically. In short, just let your imagination run wild and surprise yourself!
