The word "pallet" usually indicates what, in Italy, we call a wooden, load-bearing platform. More specifically, it is a loading pallet - a wooden structure where unloaded goods are placed, especially common in commercial activities (and can be seen most frequently used at warehouses).

Today, in reality, the pallet is widely used by those involved in creative recycling and furniture-making. There are many things that can be made. Some of these are perfect for decorating balconies and verandas and creating fantastic relaxation corners, in which you can spend some alone time or evenings with friends.

Just ask a friend or a local businesses (or even a supermarket), to give you a pallet. They get rid of the pallet and you will get, at no / little cost, the raw materials for creations that will be the envy of architects and interior designers. A little ingenuity, imagination, dexterity and you can achieve wonders using a humble pallet.

Create a sitting room on the balcony with a pallet. It will be necessary to use mattresses and pillows to create a sofa with your pallet floor and then you can can go wild decorating it. So, use lights, candles, scented plants, poufs, cushions and whatever will make you feel most at ease when you need to relax.

Use a pallet to create wonderful vertical gardens, perhaps to be placed in the living room. This is another of the most popular projects DIYers do when it comes to recycling pallets.

Depending on whether you use it by hanging it on the wall on one side rather than the other, you can decide how to use it in various ways. The flat part - the one normally used to place the goods upon - can act as a grid or support to hang plants on directly. If, on the other hand, you want to take advantage of the part of the pallet that rests on the ground, useful plant holders can be obtained from exploiting the feet of the pallet.

And in your sitting area on the veranda - in addition to a sofa and a vertical garden - you can add a pallet table. You can use it as you find it, simply by placing it on the ground, for a more rustic or wild style. Or, alternatively, you can repaint it in whatever color you prefer. There is no limit to what can be done.

By joining two or more pallets together and positioning them vertically (with the addition of a supporting, horizontal surface), you can make a table which can, for example, act a bar corner where you can put all the stuff necessary for your outdoor aperitifs and sundowners.

Staying with the subject of aperitifs, drinks and bar corners, another truly original idea is to hang a pallet on the wall, and use it as a bottle holder / wine rack.

And why not make a jacuzzi out of pallets? If you have a large enough veranda, a jacuzzi corner could be just right for you.

Creating a small gazebo with a built-in seat could really revolutionize the environment of your balconies and verandas.

While a swing made from pallets, ropes and cushions will make the environment look unique and days spent on the veranda will be even more comfortable and pleasant.

And, finally, with a pallet you can create seats and stools of all kinds, shapes and sizes.

Small and colorful stools are a useful and fun idea for any type of environment.

In short, get yourself a pallet and start enhancing your outdoor spaces. With a bit of creativity you can really achieve a lot!
