When it comes to washing the floors - especially the one in the bathroom - bleach is one of the products most used. In the bathroom, then, bleach-based degreasing & cleaning products are often used since it is a substance capable of doing this tough job.

However, it is also true that bleach is dangerous to our wellbeing if it comes into contact with our skin, eyes or is inhaled. And bleach is not environmentally friendly either.

What are the viable alternatives to bleach that we can use in the bathroom? Some of these are described below:

A first alternative is chlorine-free bleach: that is, active oxygen bleach, which is often marketed under names that contain the words "oxi" (or is called a delicate bleach). In fact, instead of chlorine, this type of bleach contains hydrogen peroxide as its active ingredient.

This type of bleach is still able to remove stains and thoroughly sanitize. The only disadvantage (if we want to call it that), is that it needs more time to be in contact with the surfaces to be cleaned.

Another alternative is baking soda. Just dilute a little in hot water (perhaps adding a drop of dish detergent or Marseille soap), and you can wash the bathroom fixtures and tiles without a problem.

Another cleaning ally is white vinegar - a common ingredient in many DIY home cleaning detergent recipes. Dilute the vinegar with water, in equal parts, when you want to wash the floor and ceramic surfaces. On taps it can also be used in a higher concentration to eliminate any limescale.

What is your favorite way to clean the bathroom without using classic bleach?
