Limescale is a problem in many homes. Especially where the water is very hard, bathroom and kitchen sinks, showers and bathroom fixtures are all affected. There are many anti-limescale products on the market but they are expensive and pollute the environment.

Alternatively, why not use natural remedies that give the same results but have a lower economic and environmental cost? In this regard, we describe below two amazing "lime-eating" products you can prepare at home.

Starch and vinegar:

A fantastic descaling gel can be made with starch (any type of starch is fine) and white vinegar (apple vinegar is fine too). There are no precise doses to follow. You can adjust doses according to your needs and the size of the surfaces to be treated. Take a few tablespoons of starch, put it in a saucepan, turn on low heat, and pour in the vinegar until it takes on a creamy consistency. Let it thicken briefly on the heat until it becomes a gel. Once removed from the heat, let it cool and it is ready for use.

Spread the gel where it is needed. Let it act for a couple of hours - scrub if necessary - and rinse off thoroughly.

Citric acid, vinegar and lemon:

And if you want a slightly stronger product, we recommend the following:
Mix 150 g of citric acid with a liter of water, to create a solution to which you will add a glass of white vinegar and the filtered juice of 1/2 a lemon. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and your solution is ready to "eat" the limescale from all the surfaces you want to clean.

Spray all the surfaces to be treated, wait a few minutes, scrub with a non-abrasive sponge and rinse off.

Precautions:

In both cases, we advise against using these DIY products on marble and natural stone. The abrasive properties of the compounds could ruin such materials. On all other surfaces subject to limestone fouling, these remedies will be ideal.

Give them a try - they could really revolutionize the way you clean!
