The so-called change of season wardrobe is one of those household chores that most hate doing. But when the time comes, you have to deal with it. Often we find ourselves with clothes that having been stored for many months or, in some cases, for a whole year - and as a result, they smell mildewed and moldy.

This is a rather annoying inconvenience, but with a little patience and some proper action, it can be solved quickly.

Below we list a few tips to overcome this problem and restore a fragrant wardrobe.

  • The fight against bad smells obviously starts with washing. Try to find the right softener for your clothes or if you prefer, mke one at home with citric acid and essential oils.
  • If you want a completely natural approach, then we recommend that you wash all the garments, especially the white ones, with Marseille soap and sodium bicarbonate. The combined action of these two products whitens and deoderizes. And these are two ingredients that can also be easily used in the washing machine.
  • Once you have washed your clothes, dry them in the sun and open air. This will eliminate any hint of fustiness and humidity.
  • And if you want to be even more thorough, steam ironing will help you further disinfect and neutralize any lingering odors.

  • Once washed, dried and ironed, the laundry can go back into the closet. Before doing this, perfume both the wardrobe and the clothes themselves.
  • For the wardrobe, in addition to the usual deodorants you find on the market, you can use some natural ones. Use bay leaves, mint or eucalyptus, citrus peels and dried flowers in small bags or; wadding or cotton balls impregnated with essential oils.
  • As for your clothes, before placing them in a closet or drawers, sprinkle them with perfumed solutions made with natural ingredients. You can make mixtures of water and a few drops of fragrant essential oils. Or you can create infusions by boiling citrus peels, flowers or herbs in water (lavender is the most popular). Either way, transfer the mixtures to spray bottles and spray onto the clothes. The result will be exceptional.

Now you just need to start. Great work!
