Did you forget a tissue in your washing? There is a way to fix the mess

This is a domestic accident that happens to everyone at least once in their lives: forgetting, before starting the washing machine, to empty the pockets in which a tissue (or some piece of paper) was left. The result, we all know, is that all the laundry gets covered with white paper fibers that ruins the whole wash. And in particular, the offending pocket gets covered in paper lint.

This also once happened to a cleaning professional sharing her experience on TikTok, on the @estela_tips account. The woman rolled up her sleeves and took the opportunity to try an experiment to clean off the lint-filled pocket: to test a tip often recommended online to remedy this unpleasant accident. This is a really easy fix, which also seems pretty effective! You just need :

  • An elastic band;
  • A sponge. In the video we see one of the thin and slightly abrasive types, but you could also try the ones used for the dishes.

How to proceed:

  • Remove the bulk of the fibers from the pocket by hand;
  • Pull it completely inside out, and secure it with the elastic band at the base;
  • Put the garment back in the washing machine;
  • Add the sponge;
  • Run the shortest wash cycle.

At the end of the wash, you should find yourself with a garment completely cleaned of paper lint (or almost completely).

Have you ever tried this tip to solve the annoying problem of the disintegrated paper tissues in the washing? The remedy should also work for any other garments which have fallen victim to the tissue in the wash. In fact, you can always add a sponge, as it will do much to capture hair (and other pollutants) on the garments to be washed!

What's your favorite way to remedy this frequent laundry mishap?
