Everyone would like to have perfectly ironed curtains. Of course, ironing them requires a long, painstaking and quite difficult job. And a perfect result is not guaranteed because ironing long lengths of fabric is not at all easy.

However, it is possible to get perfect results by adopting other methods that circumvent the need for an iron. There are tips and precautions that can be used in the washing phase that can help with this. Read on to find out how:

  • The first tip, generally unknown, is to put the folded curtain into a pillow case before putting it in the washing machine. In this way, the curtain will not curl up on itself and the number of creases will be reduced. The function of the pillowcase is similar to that of mesh washing bags (which are readily available and are very useful for washing delicate items in the washing machine). Failing these, a pillowcase will be a great replacement.
  • If the curtain is very dirty and you prefer it to wash thoroughly and without a pillowcase protector, put it by itself in the washing machine (i.e. without other curtains or other items). From the point of view of consumption and eco-friendliness, this is certainly not an ideal solution, but it will prevent excessive winkling of the curtain.
  • Once the washing machine's drum has been loaded, set a short wash, suitable for delicate garments and with a low temperature, and setting the spin speed to a minimum. And remember to use a fabric softener to make the fibers softer and more flexible. This will also help a lot in preventing creases.

  • After washing, hang up the still-damp curtains, leaving windows and balconies open to allow them to air dry and unfurl naturally.
  • If the curtain still has creases when it is dry, you can spray water on these creased areas so that they become moist again. Then, keeping the fabric taut in your hands, direct a hot jet of air from a hairdryer on it until the fabric is dry again and the crease has disappeared. This is an inexpensive, effective alternatives to buying an expensive, vertical steam iron.
  • But if you want curtains that are always in perfect condition, consider purchasing a vertical steam iron. This tool will ensure you never have crumpled curtains!

Getting crease-free, wrinkle-free curtains should not be a hassle anymore using these tips!
