Broken spade? 11 ideas to recycle old tools and decorate the garden creatively

Anyone used to working in a garden will certainly be familiar with a variety of work tools such as spades, shovels and similar implements. They are robust tools that help us to do carry out some tough jobs, but after a few years, they begin to show signs of wear, and it is not uncommon to find yourself with a broken spade on your hands from time to time.

Sometimes it is enough just to replace their handles, but after many years of intense use, even the metal blade can end up wearing out or becoming impossible to use. These are items that can be easily thrown away, but why not consider keeping them and then turning them into some original garden decorations? They will add a really nice, rustic touch! Take a look at the ideas proposed below:

A flat blade with a metal neck can become a sort of shelf when it is fixed to a wooden pole: on each blade, you can place a pot with plants and flowers, and it will be a really cute vertical flower bed.

A spade and a pitchfork, with the same style of handle, secured to a fence and then decorated with pots full of plants - an idea to be copied.

And what if the spade is planted into the ground, with the handle becoming the support on which to mount a birdhouse?

Lots of spade blades to use as food trays for birds, filled with bird feed. Original, zero-cost bird feeders in an instant!

With flat blades, especially those that are square, you can create welcoming decorations to be placed at the entrance to your home!

Those with a lot of imagination can combine the various metal bits of various garden tools together to create sculptures that resemble different animals - beautiful when placed in the middle of a flower bed.

Each spade blade can become a petal of a giant flower that stands proudly in the garden.

Even just the handle can be used for some creative recycling projects.

These spade blades are cute features of a garden fountain.

Spade blades can be arranged one on top of the other to create a small waterfall.

And here, someone has used them as decorative pieces in a DIY metal gate.
