Cloth mops, microfibre, flat, round ... Everyone has a favorite mop, depending on the material with which the floor to be washed is clad, and maybe even a brand which is better than others. We usually use a mop to wash the all the floor surfaces of our homes - but is it always the best solution for every room in the house?

A very popular cleaning story on TikTok, is that of Vanesa Amaro and she suggests that this is not the case when it come to dealing with the bathroom floor. In this case, in fact, the woman advises to use a method that she assures us will remove much more dirt than any normal mop can do.

What is the best way to thoroughly clean a bathroom floor according to this famous TikToker? Simply do it by hand, i.e. by kneeling on the ground and passing paper towel over the floor.

Specifically, the TikTok video shows us that the woman first sprays a product on the ground - it is a degreaser designed specifically for the bathroom, perfumed with mint. Vanesa Amaro uses this as it leaves a pleasant smell in the room, but a commercially available or DIY equivalent will work just as well.

The next step is to simply kneel on the ground and (wearing gloves), rub some paper towel over the floor to remove the bulk of the dirt (hair, piles of dust, and similar), and then continue rubbing to get rid of the rest of the dirt and make the floor shine. If you have ever seen oriental movies or a TV series, many people wash the floor of their homes in this way, - i.e. without standing pushing a mop, but bending over and doing the floor by hand using paper towels. Are these just different cultural habits, or is it a method that is actually more efficient?

Obviously, it is a decidedly more tiring method, and Vanesa herself specifies that "only where possible" it is a preferable method: if for some it is incompatible with their physical mobility, the good old mop is just fine! But certainly, where there is no problem for bending over to reach the floor and working in this manner will give very good results.

And in the case of some doubts as regards the eco-sustainability of this procedure, consider this: consuming a lot of paper is never an environmentally friendly operation. But this problem can be overcome by using old rags or microfiber cloths (even those which are little worn) and which can be washed and reused over and over again!

What method do you prefer to clean the floor in your bathroom?
