Don't have time to play sports? Discover easy ways to be active during the day

Everyday life can be really tiring and full of commitments, and when we are too busy to make time to go to the gym or devote ourselves to running or other sporting activities in a dedicated way, working out becomes almost impossible. Still, exercising is essential for our health, so how do you reconcile the hectic and stressful pace of life with physical exercise?

One way to remedy, at least in part and without having to change the daily routine too much, is to incorporate movement into our daily activities, in many small ways that at the end of the day, amount to a healthy amount of exercise.

  • Use the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator whenever you can. At home or on the way to the office there are likely to be elevators or escalators, but choosing to go for the "more strenuous" alternative is a big step forward for our daily health.
  • Park further away from your destination: it will force you to walk a little longer, but maybe it also means finding parking more easily so you save time and avoid the stress of endlessly circling looking for a spot. Even inside parking lots of a lot of shopping centers this is possible - walking those extra meters is always beneficial for our health.
  • Calls and video meetings on the go: do you have to make a business call, or was there some call that you have been putting off for some time? If you do not need to be at the PC or consult data while you are on the phone, take advantage of modern technology that always keeps us connected to make a call during a walk outdoors, even without going too far, so you will be active without compromising your rhythms. .
  • The lunges: if you happen to push a  shopping cart in the aisles of the supermarket when there is no one there (or even if there are people and you are not shy!), walk with long strides and flex your legs to lower yourself towards the floor. These are lunges that you do for standard gym training, but you can do them during a normal daily activity like shopping!
  • Exercise while watching TV or listening to music or a podcast. If you have an exercise bike or treadmill, use it while watching an episode of some TV series (even 30 minutes is fine), or even when watching YouTube videos. While listening to music or a podcast sitting down, you could do simple exercise routines on a mat, even light exercises that, no matter how light, in the long run, will strengthen and tone our bodies. And then you will enjoy the relaxation even more to see / hear more from the comfort of the sofa!
  • Instead of board games, get your friends or children to play games that involve physical exercise: when the weather is good, they can be done outdoors, but freeing up some space indoors to play Twister is always fun.

In short, as usual, it takes a bit of good will and dedication, but once you have taken these habits you realize how beneficial they can be for our general well-being, and will no longer be a thought.
