White sneakers are a must-have item for men, women, and young people of all ages, as white pairs easily with any look. However, frequent use can cause the scuffing and/or yellowing of the rubber parts of footwear - especially canvas and leather shoes.

Fortunately, however, there are effective cleaning solutions that can make your favorite white shoes gleam again and without expending too much effort.

How to wash white sneakers?

To remove dirt from white sneakers, try using a toothbrush and mild soap. Mix the soap with warm water and use the toothbrush to scrub away any stubborn stains. Then, using a soft sponge, wipe down the rest of the sneakers, including the soles. Rinse thoroughly and squeeze out the tongues properly.

To remove more stubborn dirt and stains, you can use a toothbrush and toothpaste. Toothpaste has great stain-removing properties. After applying the toothpaste with the toothbrush, remove any residue with the help of a damp cloth and leave the sneakers to air-dry (and out of direct sunlight).

What about white canvas shoes?

White canvas shoes are great to wear during the summer. But how do you keep them clean? Luckily, there are all-natural cleaning methods that can restore your white canvas shoes to tip-top condition.

One of the most effective methods includes the use of baking soda (a valuable resource for many household cleaning chores). To get started, make a mixture of 2 to 3 tablespoons of baking soda with a cup of water. Then, moisten a cloth with this mixture and rub it on the shoes until the dirt is removed.

This method also works great to get rid of any yellow stains on the rubber soles.

As for other methods for cleaning white canvas shoes, lemon juice is another great choice. Add 2 or 3 tablespoons of lemon juice to some water, wet a cloth in this mixture and use it to clean your canvas shoes. Lemon juice is also effective as a deodorizer.

Another remedy combines baking soda, white wine vinegar and warm water. Mix these ingredients in a bowl, apply the mixture to your shoes using a toothbrush and then finish by rinsing off.

Keeping your white footwear clean doesn't have to be a difficult task. Using the above-described methods, your white footwear will stay in pristine condition.
