Wanting to rest and relax is everyone's wish, especially when coming home after a rough day. Not many people know, however, that it is possible to shed all your stress at the front door. So, how is this possible? Well, pay attention some determining factors listed below:

  • Order: The first thing one's brain detects on entry is the presence (or absence) of order. Being greeted by a messy, chaotic home when you open the front door will not help your stress levels. As soon as you can, get into the habit of putting things back in their place after use. By doing so, you won't be "assaulted" by chaos when you come home.

  • Ambient colors: We all know that colors can help determine mood. Industry experts recommend using neutral and/or warm colors in the home to help invoke a sense of peace. Shades of cream, beige, cream, light pink, yellow, etc are welcoming and relaxing.

  • Fabrics: The patterns and colors you chose for your funiture upholstery, cushion covers and the curtains can also affect your ability to relax quickly. Light, transparent and in soft colors without "busy" patterns/desings are the better choice here.

But there's more...

Above, you have seen just three aspects that, if done right, can immediately put you at ease as you step into your house. But there's more you can do in this regard:

  • Lighting: Fundamental to completing the furnishing of any space, lighting is a key element. Natural light can be highlighted through the colors you have chose for your upholstery and other the fabrics (like the curtains and cushion covers, for example).  However, when the sun sets and you start turning on the lights, you must make sure that it creates a soft environment, radiating peace and serenity. For example, a single lamp to illuminate a particular corner can give this effect. And, of course, scented candles give off a warm, welcoming and even romantic ambiance that will help you relax.

  • Perfumes and scents: A bit like scented candles, air fresheners can also play an important role in helping you to relax. Stretching out on a soft armchair, closing your eyes and breathing in the fragrances you like will calm your mind.

  • A touch of nature: Being outdoors always improves one's sense of well-being, but not all of us have this opportunity. Given this, bringing a little greenery into your home could give you the touch of nature that you need to relax properly. And many species of plant help to purify the air, aiding your ability to relax.

  • A peaceful corner: Choose the corner of the home where you feel the most comfortable. Add your favorite seat, some objects that we know help you relax (like books or a record player) and spoil yourself in this "enchanted" corner that is unqiuely yours.

As you can see, it doesn't take much to make a home a relaxing and welcoming refuge. Attention to detail, colors, order, a little stimulation and the right lighting will help you shed your stress and improve your overall well-being immensely.

All that remains, is to wish you a wonderful time relaxing at home!
