Is your bra drawer an unholy mess? Put it back in shape by following this advice

All of us have underwear at home and probably also have more than just one, dedicated underwear drawer. And we all know how long it takes us to tidy underwear drawers up (and how quickly they get messy again).

Bras, in particular, require care when they are put away, since their components (like the under-wires) can be easily damaged if folded incorrectly or by getting jammed/trapped/crushed in an "overflowing" drawer.

To avoid this inconvenience, check out our tips below:

Are you really sure you need all the underwear you own? Most women, for example, own dozens of bras, but only use 3 or 4 on a regular basis. How many times have you bought underwear in a shop but find it less appealing to wear when you get home? This happens to the best of us...

Make a start by emptying your underwear drawers and sorting the items out:

  • Put aside all the underwear you use regularly;
  • Select your "special occasions" underwear and add these to the "to keep" pile;
  • Throw away any deformed, threadbare, damaged pieces of underwear (and/or any pieces you no longer like).

Sports bras can be bulky, but can be folded in one of two space-saving ways, as follows:

  • Folded in half: lay the bra on a surface with the front facing downwards and fold the straps in so that they do not get stuck inside the drawer. Then, fold the bra in half, top facing up; repeat this operation with all the other bras, stack and place them neatly in the drawer, ensuring that you can find them easily when needed;
  • Folded in 3: if you need more space for your sports bras, you can store them vertically by folding them in 3; as described above, place the bras on a surface with their fronts facing downwards and fold the straps in to prevent them from getting stuck in the drawer; then, fold the bra 3 times, so that you can store them upright, neatly.

All other types of bras are typically stored folded in half, with one of the two cups turned inside out. This method, however, can damage your bras. Therefore, it's best to keep your bras lying flat (or, "opened up") in the drawers. Proceed as follows:

  • Close the rear hooks to prevent them from catching on surrounding objects;
  • Place the bra on a flat surface with the front facing downwards;
  • Fold the straps into the cups;
  • Repeat this operation with your other bras, stacking them one on top of the other as you go;
  • If you want to go one step further, sort out this stack further by grouping them by color.

Following these tips, your underwear will always be neat and orderly!
