Just like black, white is a color that goes perfectly with almost everything. And this is the reason why many people opt for buying white/neutral-colored shoes to go with all their outfits. But one down-side to white shoes is how quickly they get dirty.

Cleaning white shoes can be challenging. So, what's the best way to proceed?

The first method we recommend to get excellent results is to combine two powerful cleaning products: white wine vinegar and baking soda. Proceed as follows:

  • Mix a spoonful of hot water with a spoonful of vinegar. Then add a spoonful of baking soda to the liquid and mix until you get a smooth paste.

  • Remove all the dirt you can from the shoes (a stiff-bristled brush can be handy for this) and take out the laces.

  • Now, get an old toothbrush - with medium-hard bristles - and start applying the paste to the shoes.

  • Spread the mixture over the shoes evenly and leave to dry thoroughly.

  • Once the paste has turned solid, brush if off gently. The paste will have lifted off any residual dirt and your shoes should be looking great again!

If you prefer not to use the above method, you could always use a magic eraser. A magic eraser is a soft and light melamine resin foam sponge which is great for marks and scuffs from almost any surface. Magic erasers are also highly recommended for cleaning shoes and give wonderful results.

Most homeowners will have a magic eraser at home and they are easy to use (and will not damage your shoes). Proceed as follows:

  • Again, first remove dirt and any other solid residue you can from the shoes, wipe off with a dusting cloth and remove the laces.

  • Moisten the magic eraser and start treating the upper and lowers parts of the shoes - you could even have two erasers for this (one for the uppers, one for the soles). As you work, you will see how much brighter, cleaner and "rejuvinated" your shoes become.

Cleaning your shoes like this is very simple and you don't even need to wash them after this treatment.

Two infallible shoe-cleaning methods

Now that you have seen these two quick and easy ways to rejuvinate your white shoes, all you need to do now is to get cracking on with it. Good luck!
