Essential oils have antiseptic and disinfectant properties which can be very useful for domestic cleaning chores and, in particular, for cleaning floors. Thanks to these oils, you will be able to maintain good cleanliness and hygiene standards in your home and your floors will also be perfectly clean and shiny.

Simply add 20 drops of an essential oil to hot water to wash your floors effectively. There are various types of essential oil that you can use for this purpose: lemon and tea tree essential oils, for example, have good antibacterial and antiseptic properties. Lemongrass oil will help you out in the summer in keeping insects at bay.

Eucalyptus oil, in particular, is highly recommended for cleaning floors as it has very effective cleaning, sanitizing and perfuming properties.

Eucalyptus essential oil is made from the distillation of Eucaliptus globulus leaves and its characteristic aroma is energizing. This oil can be used to enhance the degreasing power of regular detergents - just one drop will be enough to be effective. To clean your floors, add 20 drops of eucalyptus essential oil to a bucket of hot water. You can further enhance the effect of this solution if you add baking soda and/or vinegar.

Although highly concentrated, this product is totally safe to use, as detailed above. That said, always do a test first to check that it will not damage the surface of your flooring. If ingested, eucalyptus oil can be harmful/toxic for pets and young children.

Used correctly, eucalyptus oil will become your best "friend" when cleaning your floors.
