Not everyone has a large bedroom at home that comes with a walk-in closet for their wardrobes. These days, new homes are much smaller than in the past, but this does not mean you can't make the most of the space you do have. Read on to find out how to make the most of the space in your bedroom.

One of the first things to consider when furnishing a small room, is the choice of color for the paint on the walls.

We recommend that you opt for a color palette that is able to make the room appear visually larger. Light colors, such as beige or dove grey, are ideal for this.

To decorate a bedroom, we do not recommend using classic white, but rather an off-white shade.

You could also opt for colors that can make the bedroom look brighter, such as lavender, sunny yellow or powder blue.

In a small room, the key is "to make the most of every square centimeter of space".

To this end, use a storage bed where you can store all those items that you do not use regularly, for example, seasonal wardrobes.

If you can, mount the TV on the wall, rather than placing it on a floor unit. You can choose to have a customized TV cabinet made to fit the angles of your bedroom perfectly.

Finally, try to also take advantage of vertical space by installing shelves, hooks or brackets where you can to store items you want to keep in the bedroom.

Install mirrors

Mirrors reflect light, and so can help to make your bedroom look brighter by "bouncing" natural light that comes into the bedroom.

Furthermore, mirrors are reflect images (space) and will make the bedroom look larger.

You could, for example, opt for using full-length mirrors as closet doors - which will also make for a wonderful bedroom decoration.

Finally, lighting is also an important factor to take into consideration when furnishing a small bedroom.

The bedroom, by its very nature and function, will be used more during the night and, for this reason, using the right lighting is vital.

For a small bedroom, we strongly recommend using wall lights (sconces) mounted in one or more spots of the room. By doing so, the light will shine up vertically, making the room feel warmer and more relaxing (aiding sleep).

So, even if your bedroom is quite small, you can see from this article, that you can easily turn it into a "cozy nest".
