Proper maintenance and use of your washing machine are vital for getting great washing results and ensuring the machine doesn't break down.

There's a lot to think about when we do the laundry: the type of fabrics, the colors, the dirt to be removed etc. - these are the variables we have to take account of. And sometimes, it can be difficult to remember all the laundry "rules".

In fact, there is a basic mistake that is at the root of many laundry problems, like unpleasant smelling clothes, lint developing, stains remaining, and more.

So, what exactly is this mistake? And what should we not do?

The key is not to overfill the washing machine's drum, because by leaving space, we can ensure that the water and detergent circulate better and does a better job. And by not overloading, we also ensure our clothes do not emerge from the wash full of creases and wrinkles.

But how much free space should we leave? Well, we can measure it with our hands! Fill the drum to about 3/4 of its capacity and if we can insert the palm of our hand without impediment, then we know we have left enough space.

Easy, right?
