No clothes dryer? Let the washing machine help you out

When the weather is sunny and breezy, doing the laundry is almost a pleasure (we emphasize the "almost"), largely because we can hang our washing outside and let it air-dry naturally.

On gloomy days, or when it's cold and/or wet, however, not having a clothes dryer can be a big headache..unless, of course, you are able to use one of the programs on the washing machine itself to this end! Read on to find out more:

We all know that choosing the right washing program for each fabric type is a fundamental step in getting excellent washing results. Furthermore, we know that the centrifuge (spin cycle) is very useful in removing excess water from wet clothes. But the spin cycle consumes a lot of energy and can be tough on delicate fabrics.

Keeping this in mind, what alternatives can we consider?

Well, here's something you can do: just wait for the wash to finish with the chosen washing cycle and, instead of taking the laundry out of the drum immediately, leave it in there. Now, insert a dry, clean towel into the drum, in the middle of wet washing load. To avoid lint forming, it is best to match the color of the towel with that of the washed clothes as far as possible. Inserting a dry towel will ensure that it absorbs excess water when a regular spin cycle is activated on the washing machine.

We would like to remind you that when washing wool, silk, linen and other delicate fabrics, it is best to use low-rpm, short-duration cycles. A simple tip like this can really help when you are in a hurry to dry your clothes!
