It's certainly fun to flip through product catalogues, browse online and visit stores in search of the right piece of furniture. But there's something very satisfying about creating furniture with your own hands too. DIY furniture projects can be very rewarding too. Of course, starting from raw wood is for experts, but there are also other ways to create a customized piece of furniture.

For example, have you ever considered some products from IKEA could be transformed into the coffee table you have been looking for? This is the idea suggested by Everything Eryn on Instagram. Read on to find out how to do this quick, easy project:

For minimal expense, Eryn shows us in a video how she transformed a basket into the base for a table with a very refined look. "It's very durable and very chic! Instead of using it as a coffee table, I decided to put it in the bedroom and use it as a side table! Although the design of the room is quite modern, the table fits in very well. Maybe you can also paint the top to make it even more amazing!", Eryn explains in the video.

What you will need to get to do this project is an IKEA rattan basket - the SNIDAD model. Additionally, you will need a round wooden top (the one used in the video was purchased at a department store), strong wood glue, a pencil, and a tape measure.

To ensure that the basket sits properly on the ground once it is turned upside down, you will first have to remove the handles. Then, situate the bottom of the basket (now facing upwards) in line with the center of the round top (use the tape measure and pencil to do this).

At this point, you only need to apply the glue and weigh down the top with heavy objects while the glue dries.

It's a really very simple project, and you can see the different steps and the final result by clicking on this link.
