We all know that keeping white clothes gleaming white - like when they were new - is difficult, especially as we wear and wash them often. There are also some types of stains that are very difficult to get rid of from white material. And even when succeeds in removing stubborn stains from white clothes, their original bright, white gleam is lost over time. As a result, white clothes that have dulled can find themselves banished to the back of our closets.

But is there any way we can revive dull, yellowing white clothes? Below, is some advice and guidance to this end which is worth giving a try:

First of all, wash the garment at a high temperatures and (if it is not too delicatea garment), use a little delicate bleach or hydrogen peroxide added to the detergent.

If the desired results are not achieved, then you can try these other methods:

  • Hydrogen peroxide: fill a basin with two liters of hot water and add 30 ml of hydrogen peroxide and 30 ml (about two tablespoons) of a detergent for delicate items. Stir, and then soak the garments for half an hour. Then, with a clean sponge or toothbrush, pour hydrogen peroxide directly onto the stain and scrub to get into the fibers properly. Wring out and machine wash at a high temperature.
  • Lemon juice: squeeze the juice of a lemon into a glass, then filter it. Once filtered, pour it slowly on the stains. Leave to act and then, dabbing using a clean sponge or toothbrush, use the rest of the juice on the stain. Wash in the washing machine.
  • White vinegar: you can use vinegar like hydrogen peroxide, but diluting 60 ml of vinegar for each liter of water, and leaving the garment to soak for 45 minutes.

If you are unable to get  the desired results with these methods, you can try the more aggressive remedy: try pouring pure chlorine-based bleach directly onto the stain. Leaving this to act for 10 to 15 minutes at the most, then rinse off and machine wash.

Good luck!
