Scratches on a car's bodywork are very annoying and we hope they never appear on our vehicles. Sadly though, if we use our car often - especially around town - picking up scratches is inevitable. And this can be particularly irritating if the damage is due to careless third parties.

But is there a way to remove scratches from the bodywork? This obviously depends on the depth of the scratch, but some attempts can certainly be made. There are some special pastes available that are formulated for this purpose, but if you don't want to buy one, there are also DIY solutions. TikToker @cleaningwithgabie describes one of these:

In his TikTok video, @cleaningwithgabie tells of having discovered a new remedy to remove scratches from the bodywork of a car and he decided to try it live. To make this anti-scratch home remedy, mix equal parts of liquid coconut oil with white alcohol vinegar. After mixing, @cleaningwithgabie applys it to the bodywork of his car on some scratches left by his dog, using a paper towel.

After rubbing in, the bodywork seems like new again, leaving the TikTokker pleasantly surprised by the excellent results obtained.

Among the comments, some users said that this remedy only works to camouflage the scratches and its effect fades after washing the car. Another said instead that the paper napkin would cause more scratches and that a soft microfibre cloth should be used instead. For a more effective home remedy, you can try toothpaste: its slightly abrasive action makes it a good alternative to anti-scratch pastes. Additionally, toothpaste can be used to clean the car's headlights.

Remember that the car should always be washed before proceeding with the removal of scratches and that these remedies are effective on minor damage. Watch the video to see the results! What do you say? Do you want to give this a go?
