Glass jars and tin cans: reuse them to accommodate magnificent plants

One of the thousand ways to reuse glass jars and tin cans is to turn them into vases for plants and flowers. You can create a lot of different plants holders to decorate and make your home, veranda or garden truly unique. And you just need a bit of creativity and a bit of a green thumb. You will discover many very original ideas, even space-saving ones, to fill your home with greenery and decorate the empty spaces wonderfully.

Flowers, succulents and hydroculture are the focus of the creative ideas that we describe below:

Tin cans, painted in the colors of your choice, and into which you can insert small flowering plants, can be hung in a row in the home or in the garden to create a very refined decoration. And they can also be used to temporarily decorate a location for any type of event.

You can, of course, choose to paint the tins in a single color or decorate them with the motifs and patterns you prefer. Polka dots, for example, could make everything more cheerful and original, toning down a more serious style.

Drill holes in the bottom of cans that you have repainted and put the soil directly into them, along with your seeds or seedlings. You will soon see the results.

And in the same cans it is possible to plant, in addition to flowering seedlings, succulent plants. The choice will be dictated by personal tastes and environmental and domestic considerations. The overall look will be exceptional.

A succulent plant planted in a specially decorated tin can, as a composition, could also become a wonderful gift idea. Enrich it with bows and aesthetically striking details - for example, add a decorated handle. It will be a wonderful gift.

The same can be done by squeezing the can at its base to make it take the shape of an envelope or handbag. In reality, it is an thing that we often do when we have to throw away the cans and compress them to reduce their size. In this case, after being specially decorated, it will become a beautiful object.

And why not try deliberately denting the jars to create a faux rustic effect and plant some bulbs in them? For a style inspired by surrealism, this is ideal.

Moving on to glass jars, it is increasingly popular amongst enthusiasts to create micro gardens or terrariums in them. This is usually done with succulents, expanded clay, soil and decorative elements such as small stones.

You can use jars of different shapes and sizes, but most tend to prefer those with a narrower neck and a slightly more closed opening to ensure that the right degree of humidity is maintained inside for the plants.

And you can choose to put the plants into many small jars, or look for a bigger one and create a micro garden with small plants which are all different from each other.

One last wonderful idea is to practice hydroculture in jars. You got that right - you can grow plants in just water. Just use the right precautions and it won't be too difficult to do this.

What are you waiting for? Give free rein to your green soul by combining creative recycling with gardening. The satisfaction will be enormous and your home will be much more beautiful.
