Space-saving furniture: this is a concept that makes us think of all those ingenious solutions to transform unused corners and niches of the home into useful places to store everything, avoiding clutter from accumulating. Among the spaces most used for this is under the stairs. Then there are those who manage to exploit the basement, and those who even find space inside each step of a staircase. In the latter solution, in general, the front of each step is transformed into a drawer that can be pulled out, and almost anything you like (and which can fit) can be stored in these step-drawer hybrids.

And why not take advantage of this idea to find a place for storing bottles of wine? This is a furnishing solution devised by Murray Berrill, an Australian builder who loves his wine.

As shown on Facebook, each step of this wooden staircase actually hides very extensive bottle racks, transforming a service and passageway into a real, personal cellar.

Murray Berrill's construction holds 156 bottles! It seems that the whole project - that is, the whole staircase and every hidden pull-out drawer - cost him just under three thousand dollars.

Considering how often bottles of wine must find a place in special cabinets or, in the homes of great connoisseurs, in a special cellar, the idea of a cellar arranged in the stairs is really a useful compromise. And if perhaps you have a basement accessible with internal stairs, installing such a solution there could be even more useful, since it will certainly be a cooler part of the house - therefore, being more suitable for storing wine.

But if you don't like the idea of filling every step of the staircase with bottles of wine, you might prefer one of the ideas below to set up a cellar under the stairs:

There are solutions that are so beautiful and refined that they furnish the home elegantly. The choice of wood and lighting, of course, is made with precise criteria in order to guarantee the maintenance of the optimal temperature for the wine.

Some are cabinets with glass doors, made in the niche under the stairs (stairwell).

Others are open-faced shelves, which are not refrigerated - but perhaps can be combined with attractive bars.

And some are real mini rooms that can be entered, refrigerated and properly lit.

Would you like to have a cellar like one of these at home?
