Natural decor: be inspired by these simple DIY projects to decorate your home

Bringing some nature indoors is a way to make it more welcoming and enjoyable, and feel alive. It is something that can be done with any style of furniture, even the most modern and minimalist ones, if you just find the techniques and materials. So, how do we insert a natural element into the home? The first method is certainly to add some plants - an essential element in interior design. But also choosing natural materials that are worked on as little as possible is another method to try.

Wooden branches, but also objects that could have been collected on the beach such as shells and similar (remember, however, that it is usually forbidden to collect drift wood, and this should be purchased in authorized shops) can, in fact, be used to create accessories and furnishing elements that are both beautiful and useful.

A thick and sturdy branch, perhaps completely stripped of its bark, can be fixed to the wall to become an original coat rack.

Again, hung from the ceiling with ropes, the branch can become the support from which to hang plant pots, such as those supported with macrame.

Alternatively, if you mount the branch to the wall with a simple nail and a rope tied to the ends, it becomes a sort of rail to use as you wish: just add enough hooks to hang you want to from it.

If, on the other hand, you insert multiple hook-headed screws into these branches, even smaller ones, you can tidy up your jewelry such as bracelets and necklaces, and they will be conveniently at hand, ready to use.

A sculpture in the house? It's not just the stuff of patrons commissioning artists: you can also use branches that you like the shape of, set in concrete. In this way you will create something original to decorate the house with (and they can become Christmas and even Easter trees later that everyone can decorate).

Half of a fairly large coconut, stripped of the outer husk, makes a great hanging plant pot - perfect for many succulent varities.

Any shell can become a beautiful candle: you just have to get the center of a candle with the wick and put it in the empty shell, melting the rest of the wax in the candle and pouring it into the shell.

Another material that is useful for various DIY projects are river pebbles: for example, you can make coasters and trivets. You will need to choose flat stones of more or less the same size and glue together like a mosaic on a cork, or even felt, support base.

The same technique can be used to make mats to use at home, with a cork or plastic base providing the underneath support.

Have you ever imagined that sea urchins could be joined together to become a toothbrush holder?

Or even using a large shell that is often bought as a souvenir on our travels. And they might work holding brushes too!

Would you like to use natural elements like these to furnish your home?
