Always looking for extra space? Help yourself by using practical and functional accessories
The more time you spend in a house, the more objects you have to cram in everywhere: between necessary objects and purchases that mount up over the years, it is inevitable that sooner or later you are faced with a situation of chaos to be sorted out in some room or inside some piece of furniture.
Before being forced to do drastic clean up, we can help ourselves by using some accessories or furnishing accessories that will serve to make better use of the space that we actually still have available in the house, but which has been poorly used. Shelves and containers of various kinds can be the allies that change this situation!
Storage pockets are always an option which can be considered: there are those to hang over the armrests of armchairs and sofas to get clear up all the remote controls that are used in the living room - but which may also store books and mobile devices, so as to clear the surfaces of the room's tables.
The same is true for the bedroom: when there is no more space on the bedside table, you can use a storage pocket to hang on the side of the bed itself.
Also, there are containers available to store clothes and objects that are not used very often, especially at the change of the season: there are soft boxes with internal compartments that can accommodate pairs of shoes but also other clothes, to be stored comfortably under a bed or perhaps on the top of a some piece of furniture where they are not visible, but remain protected from dust.
What about multifunctional piece of furniture? A mirror, for example, could hide a shoe rack.
Inside a wardrobe there are a myriad of accessories that we can use: from hangers that allow us to hang a lot of objects from one hook, to dividers for shelves and cases for bulky bags and accessories, also to hang between clothes so as not to create chaotic piles on the bottom of the cabinet.
There are boxes and cases for just about any item, so you don't have to use plastic bags. These boxes and cases can be , put away neatly and compactly. By doing this, the available space is exploited more optimally and objects stored inside are protected from being damaged by dust and dirt (and moths).
Take note of all the unused space between furniture units and the walls: maybe you can fit them with trolleys and narrow shelves on wheels, as often happens in the bathroom and kitchen.
Even the space around the toilet can be equipped with furniture of various models: wood, metal, resin or PVC for shelves - somthing suitable for all tastes can be sourced.
The hooks that hang from kitchen shelves means that many objects used frequently can be accessed easily. For example, the cups used for breakfast or coffee, will no longer have to be taken out of the cupboards every time, and space for something else will be created.
There are also extra drawers and shelves available which can be used in the fridge. This prevents food from piling up and squashing the items that are at the bottom of the pile.
And similar solutions also exist for bookshelves which can be used at home or even in the office.
On the kitchen worktop you can take advantage of the vertical space, using a few, simple raised mobile shelves.
As for worktops, tables, desks and even household equipment such as the ironing board: when space is limited, consider using those with a folding function which can reduce their storage footprint.
