From old drawers to original centerpieces: we reveal the most captivating recycling ideas!

A table centerpiece is much more than a decoration for important occasions: in fact, we can use them all year round to liven up not just the dining room or the kitchen table, but also the coffee table in the living room as well as the shelf of some cupboard or other piece of furniture we may have around the house.

They are decorations that allow us to indulge ourselves with compositions of many different types, even if, in most cases, they are scenes made of some floral arrangement, using either real or faux, artificial plants. Traditionally, containers such as vases, bowls, trays and similar are used - but with a little imagination you can also adapt more unique objects for this purpose, as happens in the use the drawers of some old piece of furniture for the same end.

A wooden drawer saved from some old, disused piece of furniture, equipped with stable feet, repainted and then decorated with vases of flowers and plants placed inside the drawer. It is rustic, but charming.

If we have the good fortune to find long and narrow drawers, such as those of a piece of antique pharmacy furniture for example, this object allows you to create the most beautiful centerpieces without taking up too much space.

But there is also a use for rectangular or square drawers that are not too large. Maybe these will be the ones that allow you to put other objects in them as well.

If you want to use recycled drawers for floral arrangements, those made up using faux, artificial flowers are perfect: there is the added bonus of no risk that the drawers will be damaged with water!

But with the appropriate precautions, and using waterproof pots (and perhaps lining the inside of the drawer with plastic) you can protect the wood of the drawer. And if the plants are real, only water them after having removed them from the drawer and allowing them to drain properly before putting them back.

You can also repaint the wood of the drawers in any color that goes best with the rest of the home's decor.

Or you could opt for more rustic finishes, such as paint with a stippled effect or using the "paint on, wipe off" method.

Inside the drawers you can place glass jars that contain cut flowers.

But it is nice to even place cut flowers in glass bottles, perhaps all of the same type (like milk bottles).

And wouldn't you like to arrange some flower bulbs in a container for a Spring centerpiece?

All year round, however, you can never go wrong with displaying candles.

So why not combine candles with sprigs, leaves or flowers?

And if your prime concern is about functionality, think about putting your condiments inside your centerpiece.

Which idea do you like best?
