When at home you need some object to decorate with, or even some useful accessories to equip a room efficiently, we can certainly try the catalogs and supplies of a thousand furniture and household stores. But what if we want to test our creativity? We would probably also find many ways to make what we need with our own hands, perhaps even recycling some old or discarded items.

Among the items of this kind that are often thrown away but which can prove to be very versatile, are food cans and many other tin containers that we happen to use in everyday life. Here are some ideas to recycle them with creativity:

Cans can become very convenient cookie cutters, and cans with different diameters can also be used for different types of treats.

In summer, the larger ones can become individual ice buckets to keep drinks, creams and ice creams cool.

One of the most common uses for cans is as decorative vases, and sometimes even just a coat of paint is enough to transform them completely.

And then, they are excellent pen holders, brushes and tools in general. To keep on your desk or even hang on hooks and rails on the wall. And to decorate them you can also use different materials, such as colored papers, fabrics, yarn, rope or even cork sheeting.

A popular and versatile DIY project is a wooden board with a handle, to the sides of which cans are fixed, all painted in the same color as the central board: it is an easy-to-carry object holder, useful for utensils to use for chores, or even to hold cutlery we take out to the garden or balcony.

A similar accessory can be built by fixing various cans all around a comfortable and sturdy rod, rather than to the sides of the wooden board (like in the example shown just above).

Properly cut and worked, they can convert into adorable DIY lamp shades.

And they work well as wall lights too!

An old tin can on top of a stick stuck well into the ground, or planted in a pot with earth: this becomes a very comfortable outdoor drinks holder!

Soft drink cans can also be recycled, for example, to become planters and pots for succulent plants.

Larger cans could become light fittings and light shades.
